Guesthouse Academia Danica is in an excellent location for exploring Plitvice Lakes National Park. It is an easy walk to Entrance 1 (Lower Lakes) – just a few hundred metres.
We received a warm welcome from our host on arrival and booked into Room 5 on the first floor. It was a small room with a long desk along one wall, and two single beds end-to-end on the other wall under a sloping ceiling fitted with a skylight. The room was warm and cosy and had a split system air-conditioner for added comfort.
We had reading lights by the bed and bedside tables, a wardrobe, hooks for our coats, a small fridge, a television on the desk and a bookshelf.
The bathroom was small with a separate shower. The basin had adequate bench space and there was a small hairdryer.
Our room, and the whole guesthouse, was spotlessly clean.
Dinner was served in a very nice dining room on the ground floor (you can nominate a time to suit you). It was a 3-course meal of a salad, a main and cake with a choice of 3 mains (lamb, pork or risotto) at a cost of 180 Kuna.
A buffet style cooked breakfast was served in the same dining room for a cost of 6 Euros.
While our room was quite small, if you want more space ask for Room 8, which has a large bedroom plus a kitchen area and bathroom. There are lovely views of the countryside from the bedroom.
We had a very pleasant stay at Guesthouse Academia Danica, and it was very convenient to be able to leave our car at the guesthouse and walk to the Lower Lakes on the afternoon we arrived.
