Bella Giulia is located in Ragusa Superiore – the newer part of town and, for a change, it is easy to find our accommodation. We are able to park in the tiny street right outside, knock on the door and our host is there.

Our accommodation is in a small building opposite our host’s home. We have a first floor apartment – it is perfect for our needs. We are a group of five and have three modern apartments between us – each apartment is very similar but with different style kitchens and on a different level.

B&B Bella Giulia Apartment

We enter our apartment into the kitchen – a bright and cheerful room with the very well-equipped kitchen along one wall, a small table in the centre of the room and French doors/window. It is spotlessly clean.

We walk through to the bedroom – a good sized room with king sized bed, bedside tables and lamps, a wardrobe, desk, bench for luggage, and TV on the wall. French doors and shutters open onto a small balcony.

The bathroom is small but well designed. It is a long, narrow shape with basin at one end, shower at the other end, with bidet and toilet in between. There is plenty of hot water and a good strong shower. Plumbing in Sicily can be a bit dodgy however all works well in this accommodation. Everything is new and well thought out.

There is air conditioning in the kitchen and the bedroom.

WIFI is good.

Our host is very friendly and helpful. She gives us a map and recommends a few restaurants both in the new and old town, and gives us advice on where to walk, and the bus service.

From Bella Giulia it is a short walk to the main square of Piazza San Giovanni, where the beautiful Ragusa Cathedral is located, and a good selection of restaurants.

It is also an easy walk to Via Scala (the steps) leading down to Ragusa Ibla – the old part of town. We walk past the beautiful Town Hall and the grand Post Office to reach the Church of Santa Maria delle Scale and Via Scala. There are beautiful views of the old town from the square at the church.

After spending a few hours in beautiful Ragusa Ibla we took the little bus back up to Ragusa Superiore (a very scenic drive) and got off at Liberty Square – a short walk from the cathedral and then on to our accommodation.

We found that a lot of the shops in Ragusa were not open on a Monday and many restaurants were also closed. Restaurants open quite late for dinner – at 7.30pm or 8pm.

Bella Giulia – Highly Recommended
We can highly recommend Bella Giulia – it is spotlessly clean, modern, comfortable and well located – just 5 minutes walk to Piazza san Giovanni and 25 minutes walk to Rabusa Ibla (the old town).
